Castle Endegeest

Wowie, I live just around the block from a real castle! Kasteel Endegeest was built in the 1600’s. In 1896 the city of Leiden bought it and started using it as a psychiatric facility (according to Wikipedia)… and it’s still used in some psychiatric capacity today… perhaps as offices for a larger mental health complex. It’s hard to tell from the picture, but it even has a moat. The building is restored, and completely gorgeous… it has a beautiful courtyard in the middle. In this picture I was trying to look like the dour old Lady Catherine de Bourgh at Rosings Park (from Pride and Prejudice).
