I have been away from the Blog Desk for so long that I feel like I don’t know how to do it anymore. But I have a good excuse. I was on a long vacation. It was great. I did a surprising amount of bicycling. Now my calves are really sore.
I caught up with my above-average family and shockingly even saw my boyfriend, who has been gone so long I was starting to wonder if he was imaginary.
But what about this awesome decal on the door of a parked semi truck? How beautiful. It looks like some of the o’s don’t quite match up with the rest of the type. And the haphazard result is really beautiful looking, at least to a design eye. But is this beautiful to a non-designer? I don’t know. I also don’t know if what I interpret as ‘beautiful’ is actually my appreciation for the unselfconscious, naive way these letters and numbers have been applied. When you stare at a computer screen trying to wring design solutions from metaphorical stones all day… a composition that looks unaffected / like naive art feels ike a breath of fresh air. Perhaps kind of like early Susan Boyle.
